The new 992.2 Porsche 911 GT3 is here, twice. For the first time ever Porsche has launched their track focused 911 GT3 alongside a GT3 Touring that comes with much requested change from Porsche fan, an optional rear seating to take your kids on a 9,000rpm roller coaster. The 911 GT3 enters its next generation and 25th anniversary year with the 992.2 variant and as such Porsche has rolled out all the stops for this monster.

The new 911 GT3 gets redesigned front and rear bumpers for improved aerodynamics along with new matrix LED headlight design with incorporated turn signals. The 992.2 comes with a host of lightweight packs that according to Porsche helps reduce weight gained from new European safety regulations. The 911 turns 25 years and to celebrate this achievement, some aspects of the ultra-rear Porsche 911 ST has made its way into the new model, albeit in an understated manner only that only Porsche nerds might pick-up.

NEW FEATURES AND UPGRADES OF THE 992.2 PORSCHE 911 GT3

The Porsche 911 has long been synonymous with high-performance sports cars, excelling both on the road and the track. Nonetheless, there are the select few that prefer a more subtle 911 without the big rear wing and that’s where the 911 GT3 Touring comes in. The 2025 Porsche Touring deletes the fixed rear wing for an active rear spoiler with a Gurney flap that extract slightly lower than the previous generation touring model. The gurney flap spoiler has also been programed to left at 100mph compared to 80mph in the 992 generation.

To shave off more weight from the GT3 Touring, Porsche has introduced a lightweight or in German “Leichtbau” package that consist of magnesium wheels, lightweight battery and carbon fiber seats, these options are also available in the winged 911 GT3 as the Weissach Package.

For track focused drivers in the 911 GT3, Porsche has covered the upper side of the dashboard in anti-glare Race-Tex, this is to protect drivers from reflection when driving head-on towards the sun’s direction. The headrest padding on the new foldable carbon fiber seats can also be removed for added space when wearing a helmet.

PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS IN THE 992.2 PORSCHE 911 GT3

Porsche squashed the rumors that were burning online about an engine displacement upgrade from 4.0 liter to 4.2 liter with their reveal, as the all-new 992.2 maintains the 4.0 liter naturally aspirated flat six engine that produces 502 hp, and 331 lb.-ft. of torque. In developing the new 992.2 variant, Porsche faced massive challenges from European new emission requirements that necessitated the addition of two particulate filters and four catalytic converters just to meet the new strict exhaust standards.

Mated to the 992.2 engine is one of two transmissions, a seven-speed PDK or a six-speed GT sport manual transmission available on both the 911 GT3 and the Touring package. Both transmissions have been reworked to be 8% shorter in ratio to the predecessor. With the PDK the 911 GT3 accelerate form 0-60 in a brisk 3.2 seconds and tops out at 193 mph while the manual transmission lags behind with a 3.7 seconds to 60mph and a higher top speed of 195mph.

High performance doesn’t just end with the 911 GT3, exclusive owners of this mean machine can purchase a Porsche design timepiece to match the car when putting in that 9,000rpm lap on the track. Not that watches are my thing but if they are for you, the 911 GT3 chronograph and Touring chronograph watches are built in an ultra-lightweight titanium case, with optional black titanium carbide coating. The design of the timepiece according to Porsche evokes the vehicle’s instrument panel.

Pricing for the all-new 992.2 911 GT3 starts at $222,500 and can be expected in Porsche dealership in June 2025.
