Lotus just spiced up their entry level sports car, the Emira with the addition of two new trims. A base Emira Turbo and a sharper Emira SE variant. This new update is long overdue considering the Emira launched almost five years ago in 2022.
Along with the updated line-up comes two new colours – EOS Green and Purple Haze metallic. The update goes skin deep with optimization to cooling and transmission for improve performance and feel.
Entry Level Emira Turbo
Coming in at a price of £79.500 in the UK, the Emira Turbo is geared towards enthusiast with a tighter budget. Powered by a Mercedes Benz derived 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder twin-scroll turbo engine, the Emira Turbo puts out a respectable 360 horsepower. The engine is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which facilitates 0-60mph acceleration in 4.4 seconds and a topspeed of 171 mph according to Lotus.

The Emira Turbo comes equipped as standard with a host of safety tech featured such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Warning and Fatigue Detection. Both driver and passenger gets 12-way electrically adjustable memory seats, a 190W audio system, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensuring not just a safe drive, but also a comfortable and entertaining journey. Distinguishing the Emira Turbo from the rest of the line-up are Turbo badges, yellow-black Lotus emblems and satin silver details.
Emira V6 SE : Supercharged Delight
Unlike its entry level sibling, the Emira V6 SE is powered by a Toyota derived 3.5 liter V6 engine that’s supercharged to produce 400 horsepower and 310 ft-ib of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard or an optional automatic transmission. With a screaming V6 engine mounted behind the driver, why would anyone choose the automatic?
Anyways, the Emira V6 SE with the manual transmission accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. While that might be unimpressive, the manual give you a more visceral experience on the way to a topspeed of 180 mph.
For increased ride comfort and handling, Lotus has re-calibrated the Emira suspension including dampers and wheel alignment. Further refinement and tuning to the chassis and suspension come by way of two drive modes, Tour and Sports. The former for everyday driving with comfort at its core and the latter prioritizes stiffer suspension set-up for spirited driving.
The Emira V6 SE starts at £96,500 in the UK or just under 1.4 million cedis. The Lotus Emira is by no means a 911 GT3 nor McLaren but it is a true supercar for half the price.
