McLaren F1 Car at Imola
First practice at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix got off to a fantastic start with sunny skies and a baking hot 40 degree temperature, giving drivers the best conditions to test the limits of their machine.
Oscar Piastri Leads The Mclaren Sweepstakes
Current championship leader Oscar Piastri, set the fastest time of free practice one with a time of 1:16.545 whiles running the soft compound tires. McLaren teammate Lando Norris was three-thousands (0.032) of a second behind on the same compound tire.
The Miami race winner, Piastri will look to increase his 16 points lead over his closest rival and teammate by putting in a great performance come Sunday. With Lando Norris finding his groove in the car, the inter-team battle is one to keep an eye on this weekend.
Sainz Pace Hints At A Strong Williams
William had a strong showing in Miami with Albon finishing in P5 and Carlos P8. The Williams FW47 in the hands of former Ferrari driver Sainz puts in the third fastest lap of the session with his teammate finishing in P8.
In current form, the Williams team seems to have the 5th fastest car on the grid and with arguably one of the best driver line-ups could become a podium contender something this season.
George Russel and his former teammate Lewis Hamilton round up the top five drivers. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly puts in a time good enough for six position while his new teammate Franco Colapinto closes the session in P17. The rest of the grid are all separated by under under 1 second except the Racing Bulls of Isack Hajar and Esteban Ocon.
