Oscar-Piastri-qualifying - Imola 2025
Qualifying for round 7 and first European race of the 2025 F1 calendar just concluded at Imola with McLaren driver, Oscar Piastri securing pole position. The session was not without drama as RedBull driver, Yuki Tsunoda had a great shunt into the wall in Q1.
Franco Colapinto’s return to the F1 grid much like his last has been down to unique circumstances, replacing Australian driver Jack Doohan for a five race stint. This time around the Argentinian driver has struggled to get to grip of the Alpine car from the get go. Much like Tsonuda, Colapinto drops a wheel down into the sequence of turn two and three, looses car into the tire barrier bringing an end to his first qualifying session.
Heroes Fall At Home: Leclerc , Lewis And Antonelli Out in Q2.
The Ferrari cars have looked sluggish and the results in qualifying speak for themselves. Both Charles Leclerc and teammate Lewis Hamilton fall in Q2 qualifying in P11 and P12 respectfully. If qualifying is anything to go by, the tifosi are likely to have a race to forget for the first of their home race with the current vehicle specifications.
Local hero and Mercedes driver, Kimi Antonelli fails to qualify in the top 10 position for his maiden Formula 1 home race. Prior to qualifying, the rookie driver was tipped to end on the podium by some pundit. His chances of pulling off a top 3 finish is impossible but has be made a little difficult with his P13 qualifying spot.
Williams driver Carlos Sainz pulls off a stunning drive to qualify 6th position with his teammate Alex Albon in tow in P7. Both driver will look to challenge George Russel, Lando Norris and the highly improved Aston Martins of Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso to a potential podium finish.
